Gift of the Sea

We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of love of relationship - we leap at the flow of the tide and resist in terror its ebb - we are afraid it will never return.

We insist on permanency, on duration, on continuity, when the only continuity possible in life is as love is in growth, in fluidity.

Security in a relationship lies neither in looking back to what it was in nostalgia, or anticipation, but living in the present relationship and accepting it as it is now. For relationships, too, must be like islands - one must accept them for what they are here and now, within their limits - islands surrounded and interrupted by the sea, continually visited and abandoned by the tides. One must accept the security of the winged life, of ebb and flow, of intermittency.

Each cycle of the wave is valid; each cycle of the tide is valid; each cycle of a relationship is valid.

Speaking of Teaching

The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his lovingness;

If he is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind;

The astronomer may speak to you of his understanding of space, but he cannot give you his understanding;

The musician may sing to you of the rhythm of which is in all space, but he cannot give you the ear which arrests the rhythm nor the voice that echoes it;

He who is versed in the science of numbers can tell of the regions of weight and measure, but he cannot conduct you thither;

For the vision of one man lends not its wings to another man.

And even as each one of you stands alone in God's knowledge, so must each one of you be alone in his knowledge of God and in his understanding of the earth.

I am what I am - SOHAM

Keith told me something that he remembers reading about it, long time ago, by an English philosopher “there are 3 persons living inside each and every one of us – 1st is someone who we think we are, 2nd is someone who people think we are and 3rd is who we actually are’.

I love myself when I am myself. I think of those who aren’t. I am what I am. Soham.
